Import a vehicle 15 years or older into Canada, handled end to end.
Under Canada’s federal 15-year exemption, a vehicle that is at least 15 years old can be imported into Canada without having to meet the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards that apply to newer vehicles — and it is exempt from the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) program. We source, ship, clear, and guide your import through our OMVIC-registered dealership.
Importing into Canada: vehicles 15 years and older.
Separate from our export business, we also bring vehicles into Canada. Under Canada’s federal 15-year exemption, a vehicle that is at least 15 years old — based on its month and year of manufacture — can be imported into Canada without having to meet the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards that apply to newer vehicles, and it is exempt from the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) program.
Seaver Associates Inc. handles these imports in full compliance with Canadian import regulations, through our OMVIC-registered dealership: we source the vehicle overseas, verify that it qualifies, ship it, clear it with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), and guide you through the provincial inspection and registration needed to put it on the road.
It is the route Canadian enthusiasts use for vehicles never sold here when new — classic Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series pickups, Nissan Patrols, and other hard-to-find 4x4s and specialty models. See examples below or ask us about a vehicle.
How a 15-year import works
- Age & VIN verification
We confirm the build date and VIN first, so the vehicle clearly qualifies under the 15-year rule before you commit. - Purchase through a registered dealer
Sourcing, purchase, and export paperwork handled by our OMVIC-registered dealership, with an itemized quote in CAD. - Shipping & customs clearance
Container shipping to a Canadian port and CBSA clearance, with duties and taxes accounted for up front. - Provincial inspection & registration
The vehicle still needs its provincial safety inspection and registration — we explain exactly what applies in your province.
Sourced to order — including 15-year imports & high-horsepower Patrols.
We hold no standing inventory: every vehicle below is an example of what we source against a confirmed order. The Land Cruiser pickups are the kind of 15-year-and-older vehicles we import into Canada under the federal 15-year exemption; the Nissan Patrols are in demand for serious high-horsepower turbo builds. Tell us the exact vehicle you want and we will find, verify, and ship it.
Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series — Single-Cab Pickup
The legendary 70 Series workhorse, never sold new in Canada. At 15 years and older it qualifies for import under the federal exemption — we source, inspect, ship, and clear it for you.

Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series — Double-Cab Pickup
The double-cab 79 Series is one of our most requested imports. We verify age and VIN, confirm the vehicle qualifies, and handle the import end to end through our OMVIC-registered dealership.

Nissan Patrol — High-Horsepower Builds (600+ HP)
The Patrol’s TB48 engine is a favourite starting point for serious turbo builds of 600+ HP in the Gulf region. We source solid, accident-free Patrols to order — the right base vehicle for your build.
